The whole secret of existence is to have no fear. Never fear what will become of you, depend on no one. Only the moment you reject all help are you freed.

Rihanna covers Interview Magazine

Like I said before, I LOVE RIHANNA i dont care whether her singing abilities, her choice in men and her never ending tattoo collection are questionable. I still heart her. So you can imagine how I completely died when I saw pics from her photo shoot with Interview magazine on Necole Bitchie below:

Interestingly enough, her inter view was conducted by non other than Kanye West.

Marylin Monroe

I have never understood all the hype around this woman. I must admit though, her pictures are stunning, her sultriness just pours out in all her shots. when I get my little apartment-the one with the red door and small red teapot,lol- I will definitely have a potrait of her hanging somewhere to remind me that I always need to be confident and comfortable in my own skin. I think that's why people loved her...I think.

wonder who decided to take a pic of her bum?

Copy Cat

Ive been seeing this look in a couple of blogs lately, I love it and would love to recreate it. the hat, long skirt and flowy silk shirts. I know who started this beautiful monster...

Rachel Zoe-style innovator

Zoe in this awesome look
I have two favourite new blogs from girls who are from different parts of the world, yet their style speaks the same language. I guess fashion is kinda like music, it does'nt matter who you are or where you're from we all dance to the same beat. check out their versions of the 'sulky mama' look (yep i just made that up).

The pics below are from an amazing fashion blogger from Mexico who I think is currently either living in Paris or she still dreams of relocating there. Her name is Andy and I love her blog 'Style Scrapbook'.

Thoughts and Hot Shoes

I know the title does not make any sense and honestly, neither do a lot of things in my life. I have too much on my mind and I've been trying to distract myself so I came across these gorgeous shoes on some blog (I visit so many everyday, I'm not sure where I nicked this one).

So what's been on my mind? well, literally everything from turning 22 (which I really don't want to get into as yet), to boy drama-well which girl does not have that, lol. My current job, the job that I want, my blog and my place in the blogging world.

Let me get into the blogging part a little bit, I love my blog but often when I look at these amazing blogs I feel so intimidated, like im running a 'Mickey Mouse' blog compared to what Ive seen out there. It's a bit discouraging, trying to find my identity as a being on this earth is hard enough and now trying to find my identity as a writer and a fashion blogger is really taking it's toll. I love fashion, I love the craft, I love trying to identitfy what the designer's inspiration was when looking through a collection. Im just still trying to figure out if I want to be an exhibitionist or a source for all things fashion. I'm still trying to find my feet and be unique in my craft. Lord knows I DONT know everything about fashion but I would love to share what I do know.

Gosh, work is really killing me. I'm at a crossroads once again and I honestly have no idea where to turn. I'll figure it out eventually. Anyways it was my birthday on sunday and im trying to avoid the fact that at 22 i feel like im 32, no really! I'll get into it in my next post coupled with pictures of the madness we got into when we celebrated.

Till then, thoughts become things and things become your life. so don't think too much! Just enjoy the ride...and these shoes, I mean could you *DIE*

Still Lovin Riri "The only girl in the world"

I am still hopelessly in love with RIHANNA. I love her coz she is my age and is FEARLESS. I cant explain it but I simply adore Riri and I always will-cheesy songs, crazy haircuts and all!

Riri has reavealed the cover of her upcoming album "LOUD", Im loving the red hair even though I liked it better when it was short. I like how she says this album is not like "Good Girl Gone Bad" or "Rated R" but simply just another step in the evolution of Rihanna. Go to rihannanow.com and listen to her banging new single Only Girl (In The World).

Minaj covers OUT

I stumbled across these pics on http://www.necolebitchie.com/ and I thought they were so cool. Nikki Minaj is on the cover of gay magazine OUT and the pics from the shoot are uber!

On If there Are Gay Rappers in Hip Hop
“I think there have been many gay rappers, they just haven’t come out of the closet,” Minaj says slyly. “Yup, lots of them. They’re lurking around the industry now. Obviously, the majority of the men in hip-hop don’t want you to think they’re gay. That’s just the reality of it. I’m a woman, so I have a lot more flexibility. And I don’t lose credibility in any way if I say I think girls are dope and sexy.”

So-Solange

Lately, one can't help but do a double take every time I see a picture of Solange Knowles. She is really coming into her own and has a glow about her that would make pregnant women jealous, lol!

Her style has also evolved and she's shed her weave for a more natural afro. Solange is giving B a run for her money-everywhere she goes people are talking about So-Solange.

I've been stalking her lately and stumbled across her blog simply titled "My Damn Blog" (very cheeky). The blog is filled with pics of her latest projects, her cute son, and her friends (the likes of Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu). It looks like something out of a seventies movie, she does mention in an interview with Fash Iz Blk (hope that's the right spelling) mag that that's where her style and music is headed.

Her son is soooo cute!
Her and the Arch Android Janelle Monae

Chilling with Miss Erykah Badu

In her Fash Iz Blk interview, which she also covers she talks about how right after she got married at a young age, she tried so hard to be a good wife and lost a bit of herself during the process. She talks about how she even forgot what having a sense of style is. I guess she's making up for lost time. She looks great and I can't wait for her next album to come out.

On the cover of Fash Iz Blk

I love the mix of prints and ethnic textures in the shoot.

Fresh out the oven: Pastry wedges

I love the Pastry brand by Vanessa and Angela Simmons. I was pleasantly suprised to see that their new range not only comes out with training inspired sneakers, glam heels, a kiddies range  inspired by their baby sis Miley but also wedges!

The Pastry brand has really come full circle- what started out as just a sneaker brand for hip young urban girls has now become a lifestyle brand with all kinds of shoes, clothes and accessories.

Cropped Tops in summer? HELL NO!

As we all know it's summer in other parts of the world and our foreign counterparts are always a season ahead when it comes to fashion.

I was stunned when I saw some celebrities sporting cropped shirts, apparently it's a staple for summer and obviously once season's change here, they'll be hitting our shores. (ive already seen some odd replica's at Mr Price.) Suddenly am not looking forward to summer...

I really dont think sooo...

Kelly's version is not too bad, it's the whole showing my not so flat belly to the world idea that im not comfortable with.

um yeah B...Neways, dont know if yall have noticed B's new Charlie Chaplin/Hippie look. It seems like she's experimenting with a less flashy look and going for indie,I dont know but just browse through her recent pics and see what I mean. It's just not her though, she's all glam and that's where she should be. I think she's intimidated by Solange's new look that has everyone less focused on B but on S for a change. Good for you Solange finally, shaving your hair has bought you a ticket out of your sister's shadow.

Im really not keen on this look. I know some people are gonna are pull it off and some definatley WONT. If you want to try this new look here are a few tips from me:

  • If you know that you have a lil extra meat around the belly area, rather wear highwaisted jeans/pants/skirt to balance the shape of you body just like Kelly.

  • If you know your over the age of 25, are not in college anymore, do not work in the entertainment or media industry rather not wear this unless you're going out for a picnic(with your family).

  • avoid wearing a cropped top with a skirt that's short-try not showing too many things at once.

  • lastly, you really dont need cut your fave top just to follow a stupid trend. Be a trendsetter and create your own stupid trend.
Oh um all these pics were taken from http://www.bet.com/ i do not in any way take credit for these.

New Post, New Look!

I asked a good friend of mine, who's also a graphic designer to design a logo for my blog. He's name is Lethabo Hlahatsi and he did a great job in capturing the look of the blog, so with the new logo he told me i might as well change the look of the whole blog. So I changed the template, layout and colours and everything sort of goes well together. I did OD on the pink though, lol!

Lethabo designed two logos for me, one with the URL and one with just the title of the blog:

If you want to see more of his work check out Lethabo Hlahatsi on Facebook, Thanks again!

Anyways, Ive decided that I really need to start looking the part if I really want to be taken seriously as a fashinionista so I really need to start making an effort with my wardrobe. Hopefully the little things like blogs, logos and all will help me turn my passion into my career.

XOXO Lee

Where DID she get that?

So Im still new to this blogging thing and Im exploring blogs that I find interesting and similiar to my tastes. So imagine how it felt to stumble upon a blog like "wheredidugetthat" I gasped, in total awe and amazement.

I loved it! if I could describe my sense of style using pictures Id refer you to Karen's blog. OMG  the eclectic mix of old and new, her clothes look like angel's threw them on her (as Viviennne Westwood would say, lol).

Anyways, Im always scouting to see talented black bloggers with a great sense of style and there's so few of us out there. It's always great when you find a gem like her. these are some of the pics from her blog:

All these pictures are taken from http://www.wheredidugetthat.com/ I do not take any credit for these pictures as they originally belong to the blogger mentioned in this post.
